Movies in new york city
![Photo](/uploads/2/5/7/9/25795833/9786175.jpg?148)
Until the nineteen forties, movies did not take place in New York City. Movies were set in Hollywood, London or occasionally in Las Vegas or Paris. The Naked City (1948) led to film production in New York City. Since then there have been hundreds of films and television shows filmed in New York City and its surroundings but some of them aren’t really set in New York City –to keep film budgets low- but special effects, library footage and other cities made it look like New York City…

TIMES SQUARE
![Photo](/uploads/2/5/7/9/25795833/3937247.jpg?308)
Times Square is a commercial intersection in Manhattan. It is at the junction of Broadway and Seventh Avenue. We can see Times Square in lots of movies such as I am Legend, King Kong, 2012 or Spider-Man 3.You should really go to Times Square it is the most shown NYC place in movies. There is most probably a reason why. I don’t know this reason but I suppose it is because Times Square is one of the emblematic places in NYC.
Do you know why it is called Times Square? It was previously named Longacre Square but was renamed in April 1904 after The New York Times moved its headquarters to the newly built Times Building which is now called One Times Square and is the site of the traditional and annual ball drop on New Year’s Eve.
It is an open place that attracts millions of people every year. If it is your first time going to Times Square then it is going to be a cultural shock for you. The lights sand people are clearly going to astound you. It may feel like a theme park with crowds, vendors, shopping, extravagant outdoor embellishment and bright lights.

In The Day
After Tomorrow, a heavy rainfall comes onto New York and only a few people see the
flash flood. Those that do see it and are in the surroundings race into the New
York Public Library to escape from the water. If you go there, you could place
yourself somewhere near the entry, run, time yourself and see if you would have
survived.

At the beginning of Ghostbusters, the building was haunted. If you are a fan of this movie and are adventurous, I’m quite sure you would like to go in the library to see what it is like and imagine what it could have been like if there was a scene where you could see the inside of the edifice. If you are not, then you can just admire, analyze the architecture and describe it in your travel journal.

In Spider-Man, Uncle Ben drops off Peter Parker outside New York Public Library and gives him some wise advice : “With great power comes great responsibility”.
CENTRAL PARK
![Photo](/uploads/2/5/7/9/25795833/8848889.jpg)
Central Park is an urban park in New York City and the most visited urban park in the United States. You should really go there. You can take a relaxing (but tiring) walk in the park; it is an escape from all the hustle and bustle in the city. While strolling through it, you can also replay in your head scenes from your favorite movies taking place in Central Park. You may not know it but Central Park is one of the best known parks in the whole world.

For the making of The Fantastic Four, only one actor out of the four main characters actually went to New York even though all four of them are seen on the Brooklyn Bridge. It took five weeks to shoot the Brooklyn Bridge crash scene and none of it actually took place on the real bridge.

![Photo](/uploads/2/5/7/9/25795833/1552475.jpg)
I am convinced that if you love the Ghostbusters, you should totally go on a vacation to New York. What I mean is that New York is where the movie takes place so it would be interesting to visit it. You can find most of the places used in the movie and see them. You can even imagine yourself being one of the team member specialized in paranormal investigations and eliminations, which is –I suppose- the main reason why people like this movie, they want to be actual ghostbusters.
